The perfect cladding board is durable and stable, with a flawless finish

Real wood is a uniquely cozy and beautifully textured material that carries a strong aesthetic message. Thermory offers a wide range of cladding boards with a variety of profiles and surface finishes.

Wood is a versatile construction material that can be used to decorate building façades and create coziness indoors – it’s elegant, eye catching and functional, yet weatherproof even in the most demanding climatic conditions. Our selection of interior and exterior cladding products includes both naturally processed materials and nature-friendly boards that come coated with water-based paints.

Excellent resistance against decay and diverse weather conditions

Thermory’s Vivid coated cladding selection is a high-quality solution that makes any building stand out from the crowd. The spruce and pine products undergo an intense thermal modification process that uses only heat and steam to give exceptional stability and durability.

The lightweight, easy-to-install cladding boards are brushed to enhance their natural pattern. For a long-lasting finish, the wood is then coated with water-based paints that are environmentally friendly and have been tested in the harshest climates.

Triangle illustration INSTALLATION

Premium thermowood cladding boards deserve the best installation solutions

Our extremely durable state-of-the-art thermowood cladding boards are also quick and easy to install. We have developed innovative installation systems and methods that offer solutions to some of the most pervasive problems in the woodwork industry. And most importantly, they save your time and money.

Hidden installation systems

PaCS – Probably the world’s easiest and fastest installation method!

PaCS (Press and Click System) clip strip fastening system is the easiest and possibly the fastest cladding installation system in the world. Using concealed clip strips for cladding installation ensures an aesthetically pleasing final result – no visible screws or screw holes. The PaCS system can only be used to install cladding boards with a special installation groove (Thermory products with the letter J in their profile designation). Pre-grooved boards are easy to align – you can create a flawless, durable result in minutes. That’s right – in just minutes.

For installing Thermory cladding profiles:
Benchmark Thermo-Ash C4J, C7J, C23J
Benchmark Thermo-Pine C4J, C7J, G-C7J, C44J, G-C77J
Benchmark Thermo-Radiata Pine C4J, C7J, G-C7J, C44J, G-C77J
Benchmark Thermo-Hickory C7J

The facade connector Dekora Black guarantees a simple, fast and safe installation process

Stainless steel screws 4.5 x 34 mm are included.

For installing Thermory cladding profiles:
Benchmark Thermo-Pine C8D
Vivid Silvered and Vivid Translucent Thermo-Pine C8D

Thermory stainless steel clip “B1-1” for quick and easy fixing

B1-1 clip leaves a distance of 4 mm between the boards.
Estimated usage of clips: 1.7 pcs per running meter (considering battens are every 600mm).

For installing Thermory cladding profiles:
Benchmark Thermo-Ash C6, C9
Benchmark Thermo-Pine C6
Benchmark Thermo-Radiata Pine C6

End-matching joints for less material loss

Most of our products can be ordered with end-matching joints. End-matching joints allow boards of different lengths to be installed without the need to rest them on joists. This creates less waste, reducing labor costs and shortening the installation time.

Visible fixing with screws

We recommend using only stainless steel screws for visible fixing.

Screw holes must be pre-drilled into thermowood Thermory Ash cladding boards. The diameter of the drill bit must be 1 mm bigger than the screw diameter. Drilling a hole keeps the wood from splitting when the screw is inserted. When fastening the boards, make sure not to screw the screws too deeply into the wood as this will allow dirt and debris to accumulate in the recessed area. On the other hand, if screw heads are left sticking out, the decking is not properly fixed to the substructure, and the projecting screws may cause injuries.

Triangle illustration Cladding Maintenance & Care

Thermally modified wood does not necessarily need surface treatment. But its a living material and ages just like us.

Our thermowood cladding boards are durable and weatherproof for decades even in the most demanding climatic conditions. You just need to follow the correct installation and maintenance techniques.

  • By using thermowood cladding boards indoors, you will enjoy the beautiful deep wood tone for decades. If the wood gets dirty, wipe off the dirt and dust with a cloth.
  • When using thermowood cladding boards outdoors, the surface of Thermory products also turns silver gray over time, like any other wood products. It is natural result of UV radiation. This process starts immediately after the products are installed and takes from a few months to a few years, depending on the effects of UV radiation. The durability of thermowood is not affected. If you happen to be a fan of the silver gray looks, let the nature do its magic.

Wood is a natural material and the change of color over time may be uneven

Each table ages in its own way. And the different sides of the house facade age differently, depending on the sun and rain falling on the board.

The color of the wood changes over time as a natural result of UV radiation

Thermal modification gives ash wood an exotic deep brown color. As with any wood, the surface of thermally modified ash will fade to a natural silver-gray color over time. This process starts immediately after the products are installed and can take a few months to several years depending on how much UV light they’re exposed to. The durability of the boards is not affected.

  • Durability Class 1, 25+ year's against wood decay
  • Knot free, rich brown color

Thermal modification gives pine a naturally beautiful golden-brown tone. As with any wood, the surface of thermally modified pine will fade to a natural silver-gray color over time. This process starts immediately after the products are installed and can take a few months to several years depending on how much UV light they are exposed to. The durability of the boards is not affected.

  • Durability Class 2, up to 15+ year's against wood decay
  • Visible knots, Golden brown color

Thermal modification gives radiata pine a naturally beautiful golden-brown tone. As with any wood, the surface of thermally modified radiata pine will fade to a natural silver-gray color over time. This process starts immediately after the products are installed and can take a few months to several years depending on how much UV light they are exposed to. The durability of the boards is not affected.

  • Durability Class 2, up to 15+ year's against wood decay
  • Visible knots, Golden brown color

Thermal modification gives spruce wood a beautiful golden-brown tone. As with any wood, the surface of thermally modified spruce will fade to a natural silver-gray color over time. This process starts immediately after the products are installed and can take a few months to several years depending on how much UV light they are exposed to. The durability of the boards is not affected.

  • Durability Class 1, 25+ years’ against wood decay
  • Visible knots, Golden brown color

When to maintain the outer cladding?

  • We recommend cleaning the wooden façade if it is dirty, mossy or other dirt has accumulated on the surface. The minimum maintenance frequency is once a year.
  • If you want to cover the board with oil or paint, clean the surface beforehand and make sure that the surface to be finished is dry.

If you want to maintain or change the color of the thermally modified wood cladding

  • To reduce discoloration or restore the original color of thermal wood, Thermory boards can be protected by covering them with a UV-resistant pigmented finish (wax, stain, paint, mineral oil, etc.).
  • If you want to achieve wood that turns gray over time, but at the same time delay the cracking of the wood, finish the wood with colorless oil.
  • If you want to create a specific tone for the thermo wood, but at the same time maintain a beautifully translucent wood surface, choose a UV-resistant wood preservative tinted in the color you like.
  • For a full covering and strong color pigment, choose a suitable wood color for the thermal wood and repeat the painting according to the instructions for the specific color.
  • Oil and paint should only be applied to clean, flat, dust-free surfaces.

Prepainted Thermory cladding boards

  • If you use painted cladding boards in dry indoor conditions, they do not require additional maintenance painting. If the wood gets dirty, wipe off the dirt and dust with a cloth.
  • In outdoor conditions, maintenance painting must be based on the specific product and the type of paint.
For example, Drift and Vivid Silvered cladding boards do not require additional maintenance painting, as their finish wears off over time and the appearance harmonizes with the natural gray tone of the wood.
We recommend performing maintenance painting for Ignite, Vivid Translucent and Vivid Opaque if the paint layer of the cladding board is worn over time and the appearance is uneven, but not less than the marked number on product names (Ignite 7 after 7 years, Vivid Opaque 15 after 15 years etc).
