Triangle illustration INSTALLATION

Premium decking boards deserve the best installation solutions.

Our extremely durable state-of-the-art decking boards are also quick and easy to install. We have developed innovative decking boards installation systems and methods that offer solutions to some of the most pervasive problems in the woodwork industry. And most importantly, they save your time and money.

Hidden installation systems

PaCS – Just Press and Click!

Probably the world’s easisest and fastest decking installation method

PaCS (Press and Click System) clip strip fastening system is the easiest and possibly the fastest decking boards installation system in the world. Using concealed clip strips for decking installation ensures an aesthetically pleasing final result – no visible screws or screw holes. The PaCS system can only be used to install decking boards with a special installation groove (Thermory products with the letter J in their profile designation). Pre-grooved boards are easy to align – you can create a flawless, durable result in minutes. That’s right – in just minutes.

For installing Thermory decking profiles:
Benchmark Thermo-Ash D45J, D4J
Benchmark Thermo-Pine D45J, D30J

T-4 and T-6 clips for hidden fixing

Black-coated Thermory T-4 and T-6 plastic clips leave a 4 mm or 6 mm airing gap between the decking boards. As a result you can enjoy a beautiful clean deck surface on your terrace.

QuickDeck decking modules do not require a substructure for installation

Building a deck is super easy with Thermory QuickDeck decking modules. No substructure, tools or screws required. These decking modules have weatherproof plastic supports underneath which are used to connect modules with each other easily. The beautiful and screw-free decking is an ideal solution for roof decks and apartment building balconies. Two modular solutions are available for creating your desired floor pattern.

Classic herringbone pattern quickly and easily

Installing a stylish herringbone deck is quicker and easier with our Herringbone module system. After only a third of the time it used to take, your deck is ready!

JEM Joints – Say No To Joist Requirements

JEM (Joint End Matched) Joints don’t have to rest on joists, which dramatically reduces waste, labor costs and installation time. Stop being held hostage by joist requirements, and throwing away piles of product scrapped during installation. JEM Joints are the decking and porch flooring installation solution you didn’t know you were waiting for.

Fixing with screws – use only stainless steel screws

Screw holes must be pre-drilled into our thermo-ash decking boards. The diameter of the drill bit must be 1 mm bigger than the screw diameter. Drilling a hole keeps the wood from splitting when the screw is inserted.

When fastening the boards, make sure not to screw the screws too deeply into the wood as this will allow dirt and debris to accumulate in the recessed area. On the other hand, if screw heads are left sticking out, the decking is not properly fixed to the substructure, and the projecting screws may cause injuries.

Triangle illustration Decking Maintenance and Care

To oil or not to oil?

Thermowood decking boards don’t require surface treatment. Like any wood, the surface of Thermory products will naturally turn silver-gray over time – this process starts immediately and can take anything from a few months to a few years depending on the levels of UV radiation they’re exposed to. This does not make the wood less durable. However, regular finishing prevents wood from cracking, ensures water and dirt repellency and creates a visually even tone.

To reduce discoloration or restore dark color, Thermory boards can be protected by coating them with a UV-resistant pigmented oil.

The color of the wood changes over time as a natural result of UV radiation

Thermal modification gives
ash wood an exotic deep brown color

As with any wood, the surface of thermally modified ash will fade to a natural silver-gray color over time. This process starts immediately after the products are installed and can take a few months to several years depending on how much UV light they’re exposed to. The durability of the boards is not affected.

  • Durability Class 1, 25+ year's against wood decay
  • Knot free, rich brown color

This process starts immediately after the products are installed and can take a few months to several years depending on how much UV light they are exposed to. The durability of the boards is not affected.

  • Durability Class 2, 15+ year's against wood decay
  • Visible knots, Golden brown color

Tips for post-Installation Care

  • After installing the decking, it is important to keep the surface of the decking free of leaves, needles and other moisture-retaining debris that promotes mold.
  • Make maintenance work before the start of the decking season.
  • Lightly sanding faded boards will remove the silvery surface colour and restore the wood’s original appearance.
  • To reduce discoloration or restore dark color, Thermory boards can be protected by coating them with a UV-resistant pigmented oil.
  • If you would like to preserve the tone of boards that have turned grey over time, use colourless oil without a UV filter on the boards.
  • The surface to be oiled must be dry and we also recommend doing the work in dry and rather warm weather.
  • Avoid oiling in very windy or too hot weather, as this will dry the oil too quickly and will not be able to seep.
  • The frequency of maintenance depends on the climate, the location of the decking in relation to wind, sun and rain, the intensity of use and the oil used. Normally, oiling once a year is sufficient to maintain the weather resistance and tone of the surface.
